We are both very passionate about fitness and doing our best to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We enjoy posting and sharing healthy recipes that we try here on Brewed Together, but what we don’t tend to share about as frequently is our fitness lifestyle. This is one area that tends to be our ‘away’ time to relax and recover from stresses, but also a way to release endorphins, feel good/confident about ourselves, and stay in shape. Staying fit and keeping a healthy cardio routine is something we consider a necessary part our weeks – almost like breathing. When we don’t have it as a regular part of our routine, we both notice that it affects other areas of our lives (i.e. our attitudes toward others, the quality of our work, our happiness, and our health).
Recently we had the opportunity to partner with Jawbone and try out their UP24 wristbands. We have loved this journey over the past few months. These wristbands allow for setting wellness goals while tracking daily steps, fitness, sleep, and diet. We love the idea of wearing these because not only are these fashionable and not too obvious, but they have been great for keeping us accountable in our daily fitness goals. While in the past, we have normally aimed to get our cardio routines in 3-5x a week, these UP24 wristbands have encouraged us to even move a little more throughout each day of the week by tracking our steps-per-day. We have both struggled in the past with getting the necessary amount of sleep we need in each night. And our wristbands actually track the amount of sleep we receive each night as well as even monitoring the quality of sleep. While we each set goals of getting at least 6 or 7 hours of sleep each night, the bands actually sync with the UP24 app that will give notification goals of what time to go to bed each night.
We have been able to log our food diaries each day using the UP24 app to track what kinds of foods are lacking in our daily diet. This is great for both of us since we tend to lean towards our cravings which aren’t always the healthiest choice. The last thing that we love about our bands is that we can sync them with other fitness and wellness apps available on the iTunes store that we have already been using (i.e. we use the Strava app to track our bike rides and running routes). The UP24 app will acommodate these other apps and fit them right in with the overall wellness tracking. There is a great community to be found through developing fitness hobbies as well. With the UP24 app, we’ve been able to create a team for the two of us so that we can see each of our achievements for the day and keep each other accountable in meeting goals.
With all of the personal goal-setting, we’ve definitely noticed we’ve made improvements to our sleep schedule by trying to get to bed earlier. And while we were previously getting cardio workouts in a few times a week, our wristbands have actually encouraged us to take more walks together when we haven’t met our goals yet for the day so that we can get our steps in. We have made efforts to have a better wellness lifestyle, but also spend more time with each other and talking about our goals together, which we love! Who of you is ready to set some goals for yourself leading up to the new year? We’d love to hear some of your fitness and wellness journeys. Feel free to share your thoughts here in the comments. And for those of you who are considering a healthy lifestyle change, we would love for you to share in our journey and check out the UP24 bands!
