Today we’re excited to partner with Old Navy to share why we wear denim every day during winter. Kaleb and I love winter in Utah. We’ve both travelled to many places around the world, but nothing beats winters here in our own local Salt Lake City. One of the biggest reasons why we moved here 2 years ago was because there are big, beautiful mountains here and uncountable outdoor adventurous things to do.
For our lifestyle and now our little one’s lifestyle, we try to dress for the occasion and the season. You may have picked up on one of our tips from our last post with Old Navy in November that when we think about what we plan to do, we consider what we will need to wear. Since we tend to spend as much time outside as possible here, we have to plan ahead in our wardrobes. And weather and the outdoor family adventures we do together determine a lot of what makes sense for us to wear. We could seriously wear denim every day during winter because:
1. Denim goes with everything. You can dress it up (i.e. with a button up and loafers for him; with a chemise and heels for her) or down (i.e. with pretty much anything else). Denim matches with any color. You could even put denim with denim like Kaleb did with his jean jacket in these photos.
2. Denim is flattering. Even babies look adorable in denim. When people see Genevieve in a pair of baby skinny denim jeans, they just want to give her a squeeze. I was able to wear denim throughout my pregnancy and one of the first pair of pants I wore a few weeks after delivering Genevieve was my favorite pair of denim jeans.
3. Denim is comfortable. When we think about what to wear when traveling, we both usually choose denim jeans because it’s comfortable. And we notice that over time denim tends to form to your body and become a better fit and even more comfortable.
4. Denim will keep you warm. Depending on the style you get, most denim fabrics tend to be made of a thicker material which helps with keeping in your body heat. This helps tremendously to keep our bodies warm with the snow we get every week in the winter. Sometimes we choose to add additional layers depending on our activities, but for casual outings, denim jeans work great.
I, Marilyn, have to say that personally I have been impressed with the selection of body styles for denim at Old Navy. Unlike most people, I don’t have much curve in the lower-half-of-my-body-department. So when I buy denim jeans, I have to find styles that are straight and also fit around my legs and waist, which can be very hard to find. I was pleasantly surprised when searching for a pair of denim that fit my body type, that there was a style for nearly every body type at Old Navy. What are your winter go-tos for your wardrobe? Do you do denim every day during winter or not and why? Feel free to tag your denim styles to @oldnavy with #oldnavystyle #happyistrending.
