You may have been wondering where we were last week. We took an unexpected mini-vacation last week from posting regularly to rejuvinate our souls in Washington D.C. Some of our friends have family that live in D.C. who offered for us to stay with them and give us the ultimate tour while we were there. We couldn’t be more blessed to have such wonderful friends. And their family took us in like their own, so obviously we were ready to move in and adopt our friend’s family like our own.
While we were there, a small part of us hoped for cherry blossoms to be in bloom so that we could enjoy them as the first signs of spring. However it actually snowed on Monday, forcing us to not do anything that day except sit inside playing games or sled outside. It was perfect. Even though it was definitely chillier than we expected the weather to be, we still loved every minute of traveling and exploring a new city. There’s something so freeing about embracing every moment about our travels and enjoying the moment with its flaws, crazy weather, etc. Other highlights of our trip include visiting the Smithsonian, seeing so many national monuments, seeing the the Changing of the Guard at Arlington Cemetery, visiting the National Archives, riding the metro, and we even were fortunate to do a White House Tour where we saw President Obama’s dog, “Bo”!
The whole trip was pretty magical and we are so fortunate we were able to take the time off to explore a new city. We believe that a pilgrimage to our nation’s capital is something to add to your ‘bucket list’ and to do at least once in your life. We re-learned and appreciated much about the history of the United States.
