Two weekends ago, Kaleb and I were getting ideas together for blog posts that would have been posted last week. We were a little stressed and have had quite a few events every weekend so far since the beginning of May. (Summer tends to be this way for most people, I think). This has really had an impact on the amount of energy we have had to create posts for our weeks ahead, so last week we decided to take a ‘Blogcation,’ a.k.a. a vacation from blogging for the week. We still shared a few photos on Instagram, but Kaleb and I both decided a little time to ourselves was the perfect prescription for our lack of energy recently. Also, Kaleb and I both work full-time. And while we love blogging almost full-time as well, sometimes there just comes that point where a perfect storm of events leads you to crash and burn. And if you don’t give yourself some rest at that point or say ‘no’ to some things, you will just make the crash harder when it happens. Isn’t this how life is though?

How many of you are out there realizing the same thing about your life right now? Maybe it’s time to stop for a second, think about how many things you have on your plate right now, and allow yourself to take a vacation from a few things for a week. Maybe it’s time to say ‘no’ to a thing or two. While we still had many things to accomplish last week outside of blogging, it really was the perfect break and rejuvination we needed. We were able to relax, get some things done around the house, go to bed earlier, and spend some much needed time with each other in the evenings. It was a wonderful period of rest for us that also allowed us to ask ourselves a few questions about our blog. Ultimately it is our concern that quality over quantity would determine the posts going out each week. With that being said, if we need a vacation, we will be taking one to ensure that we can post more quality content. And once again, doesn’t this totally apply to life in general? I find that with work and my daily tasks, it’s easy to get into a busy routine and forget to rest sometimes or even get a decent amount of sleep. Everyone get out your calendar and schedule or spontaneously take a vacation this week from something! It’s summer and the perfect time to give yourself some rest!

So true. Sometimes you need to give yourself a bit of a break, and also realise that the world will not end if you do. Easier said than done though – I know this, but can I do this?! Not so much! 🙂

Yes! You are so right. I feel like I need a blogcation, too. It’s always nice to just step away from things for a little bit to get inspired again. Glad you guys were able to get some relaxing in. Isn’t that what summer is for?

I was forced to rest for a week at the end of May because i was sick, but you’re totally right, sometimes your body is trying to say something and you must listen to it.
