If you are brainstorming ideas for Mother’s day, we’ve got a fun way to give her something she likes, but with an added personal touch. Of course you should give her flowers for her special day. But why not make it feel more like it was handpicked and wrapped up by you? I chose to pick up some tulips the other day for a post this week and have been wanting to share with you all how easy it is to put together a simple gift for someone that feels like it comes with a lot more love. And it makes for a fun little DIY project. If for some reason you won’t have access to fresh flowers
or would like to give mom something that will last a little longer, consider trying out the DIY: Crepe Paper Flowers that are sure to win her over as well!
Step 1: Gather your materials. You will need some fresh flowers, a few different types of washi tape (which can be found at most craft supply stores), twine, and postal wrapping paper (you should be able to find this at any post office, or Target has it as well).
Steps 2-4: Remove any weird leaves with holes or broken ones. And trim the stems at the bottom diaganoly. Immediately after you have trimmed these, I actually used some of the bouquet wrapper to create a water reservoir so that the flowers will still be in water even though they are wrapped up.
Steps 5-6: Cut a rectangle out of your postal wrapping paper and place your flowers in the inside, centering up the flowers with one of the corners. Fold the wrapping paper up at the bottom of your flower stems.
Steps 7-8: Wrap the paper around your flowers and use your washi tape to tape in place. Wrap a bunch of different washi tapes in random orders and directions around your paper and then tie some twine around the center. You now have a fun washi tape bouquet to share with mom! Happy early mother’s day!
