One thing I am passionate about is supporting local businesses and friends when I can. And it’s a bonus when they sell a product or service I like to use or supports a cause I’m passionate about. Recently we were introduced to one of these types of businesses called International Sanctuary (or iSanctuary). “iSanctuary’s mission is to advocate for exploited people of the world, to educate the public about human trafficking and its prevention, and to be instrumental in providing survivors the means to be reintegrated as valued members of a community.” As a part of this mission, iSanctuary sells jewelry and products which are made by and help financially support human trafficking survivors.
I absolutely love this mission. As a person who has travelled to other countries and seen the way women especially are treated in other countries, I am empathetic for this cause. I am certainly grateful to live in a country where these kinds of things are regulated very heavily and where I, as a woman, am treated as an equal. But I do empathize with other places where this may not be normal everyday life for someone. And I personally feel that it is my duty, as someone who is fortunate enough to live in a place where I don’t have to worry about this, to do what I can to help those in need. To support this cause, I’m sharing a few jewelry pieces that were designed and made by some of these survivors. I love my new chevron necklace and beaded bracelet. Today I invite you all to find some jewelry you like and support this cause with me!
